Never ask a dreamer…

Inspired by this week’s Monday Inspiration – Night time

Night time

Never ask a dreamer what she dreams about

For if she starts talking

If she smiles sweetly

If she takes you by the hand

You will finally understand the power of her words

As comprehension dawns on the magic she has wrought

You may wonder…

…You may not

But as sure as she is the moon

And you are the sun

The stars will guide you deep

Into her world of dreams

And there you shall remain

Loved, but lost to all, save her

For ever.

  1. Hey Sammi,

You have found choice words to tempt Sleep herself to take the dreamer’s hand and follow her into the ether πŸ™‚

Beautifully written, succinct, imaginative, evocative, and yet your poem is so free and unbounded from the form of words, much like the dreams they contain perhaps?

Your Dreamer sounds delightful….perhaps I might willingly trust her hand in Love and forsake a world in waking to share eternity from her side…

    • Hey Dewin,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and leave another generous, charming comment πŸ™‚ It is always deeply appreciated and your words mean a lot.

There is a dream-like quality to the words…they are simple and yet hint at the profound, just as a spell or prayer might conjure something deeper than the words expressed…

She is delightful, isn’t she…there is an innocence to both the poem and to her – perhaps borne out of simplicity or naivety? – enchanting, beguiling, and may be even primitive…

I wish you the best of luck in the pursuit of a figment of my imagination πŸ™‚

      Have a great night,

      • Hey Sammi,

Thank you. The pleasure when charmed is mine Sammi, always πŸ™‚

And yes, the figment of your imagination is delightful! Borne from within the surreal mysteries of Love and tenderness her innocence is matched only by heart-felt sensitivity and the enchanting touch of her feather-like presence. I find her proud and strong and commanding, and perhaps a little vulnerable as well. But her magic is always captivating πŸ™‚

  2. The first few lines of this painted such a clear, precise picture, I could practically feel her taking his hand in hers and that sense of serenity that would accompany her speaking. Wonderfully crafted and as always, such a pleasure to see popping by to Writing and Works.
