Time and Tide

The tide flows

Like time

Both powerful forces

Of nature

Unstoppable

Unrelenting

Moving to a

Rhythm all their own

As I watch

The waves

Upon the shore

I feel time

Slipping away

One grain of sand

At a time

And in my heart

I know

I can do nothing

To stop either
