The Legend of Fire and Ice

One of the reasons I like to submit to anthologies is that it gives me an excuse (as if I need one) to write something based on a story I’ve already written.  It might be a return to a character I’ve already met or a place I’ve already been but it allows me to explore an aspect of it in a different way…

And that’s what I did when I came across the call for submissions “Winter’s Grasp”, an anthology released by Fantasia Divinity.  I had already had a story accepted for an earlier anthology from this small publisher, which is set for release in March 2017, and so I knew that they were great to work with.  This was an opportunity I didn’t want to miss…

The Legend of Fire and Ice

Winter lives in a northern land of snow and ice and frost, and as such she is cold and aloof.  But when Summer, who comes from a warm country far to the south, decides to explore the lands to the north, their meeting will have lasting consequences that no-one could foresee…

This tale is a creation myth that attempts to explain away the seasons in a fantasy world.

A big thanks go to Madeline L. Stout for including my story.  When my copy arrives I’ll be sure to post a few snaps of the beautiful book…
