The Wild Within

This is for the Weekly Tanka Prompt Challenge, hosted by Kiwinana at Ramblings of a Writer.  Below is my effort for week 54; the words are “domesticated” and “wild”. The prompt can be found here.  Go and check it out!

That look in your eye

Speaks of the wild within you

Running with the pack

Long since domesticated

My loyal friend for always

      • Hey Sammi…she’s adorable, what’s her name? 🙂 Perhaps you could have encouraged mum to write the Tanka…or perhaps she may write a tale for your Blog, or a poem sharing an adventure she has had whilst out with the doggy-doo? Just a thought 🙂

        Namaste 🙂

      • Hey Sammi 🙂

A beautiful for sure, and one I am certain she lives up to. I wonder if you knew her name meaning and it inspired the word ‘friend’ in your rather good Tanka…

Origin of the name Dakota: Derived from the Siouan word dakóta (allies, to be thought of as friends). The name is borrowed from the name given to the tribes of northern Plains Indians, also known as Sioux and Lakota – http://www.babynamewizard.com/baby-name/girl/Lakota

I hope mum might rise to the challenge and pen a line or two…perhaps she harbours a secret desire to write? 🙂 There’s no doubting your creativity flows from her: Carl Jung believed the creative impulse and wish to express (create) is derived from the mother. From a spiritual perspective I find his suggestion elegant. Good luck Sammi’s mum 🙂

        Namaste 🙂
