A set of random words and a photo prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. Use the prompts separately or together. It’s up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

Morning SC, Namaste 🙂
~ Fall ~ By ~ Dewin Nefol ~

Before she fell she was delicious
Blushed and ripe for picking
Bruised in the fall left her distasteful
Her dark dimension was revolting.

Nice challenge! But I’m cutting back on writing prompt challenges, I’m afraid — need to spend much more time revising the stories that I already have started. I haven’t noticed any book reviews from you recently; are you not posting them here anymore?

That sounds like a good plan. Prompts are great when you need a little inspiration, but otherwise they just stop you from concentrating on other projects. I have yet to post any book reviews in 2018! I have a few to write – of course, I’m behind as always 😉 Time has been quite limited so far this year, and whenever I get a minute, I’m trying to finish another short story collection and make some headway on my novel. It’s slow going, but progress is progress. How is your writing going?

The absolute last thing I need is more inspiration. I have ideas aplenty! It’s time and energy to finish the stories — and revise and revise and revise — that I’m lacking. And as you say, the prompts just take away that time. I like being engaged with the online community though, so I’ll try to do one per week. As far as writing goes, everything feels like it’s going slowly! Partly that’s because I’m working on a very long short story. The current draft is just over 10K, so revising it is more like plotting/structuring a novel than a short. Plus I had a bunch of beta reads / long critiques that I’d promised, but at least those are done now, whew! I’ve allowed myself to put the new novel aside and let it simmer until Camp NaNo in April, although I do frequently get ideas about book two or revisions for book one, and go back and add notes. This is the first weekend this year that I’m not jammed with social events, so I’m hoping to “hermit” for two days and actually get stuff done!
