A word and photo prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. Use the prompts separately or together. It’s up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take one of the challenges below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

Prose Challenge – Write a fable on the theme of patience.
Poetry Challenge – Write a haiku inspired by the word prompt.
Can’t wait to read what you have come up with!
Morning Sammi C, Namaste 🙂
How are you? Hoping you have had a good week. We’ve sleet/snow flurrying around today and winds whistling tunes on rooftops…some say the snow is coming back again? Let it snow is what I say – I’ve coffee, choccy biscuits, and cake coming out of my ears: all will be fine at Castle Deeply come the end of the world 🙂
A charming little challenge this week Sammi: I was encouraged to read-up a bit on snails. Fascinating creatures: did you know the snail excretes two different types of slime – one to facilitate movement the other for protection and healing? They also excrete a calcium based slime that repairs/grows it’s shell. Nature is amazing. Symbolically, I found these attributes associated with snails: Change, Fertility, Healing, Mobility, Patience, Evolution, Sensitivity, Androgyny, Time/Cycles, Self-Reliance, Self-Assurance.
Anyway, here’s my effort this week…

Hey Dewin 🙂
How are you? I’m fine, thank you. I’ve had my head stuck in story-writing mode for a few weeks and so the blog has been a bit neglected. I’m doing my best to catch-up with all the responses from the past few weekend writing prompts, and I have to say, I’m enjoying them all 🙂
I don’t know very much about snails, so thank you for the information. Very interesting. I especially enjoyed reading about their symbolic attributes. Again, many of them I didn’t know, so thank you for sharing 🙂
I love the poem – succinctly sweet. “Spiralling home” is a fantastic line 🙂
Have a great weekend 🙂

Morning Sammi, Namaste 🙂
Very pleased to hear you’ve felt creatively inspired and maintained your focus: time flies by when that happens and life somehow seems to take a back seat for a while whilst writing takes over. It can be quite tiring maintaining any sense of normalcy but it’s great fun all the same to be so absorbed, remote and distant from mediocrity so as to make it a place one wants to stay for a while, or for always.
Saturday Challenge is becoming very popular, the submissions always superb and diverse.
True to the rhyme, I used to collect snails as a little boy but not puppy-dog tails nor even a puppy: we had cats and I always had a companion. I like snails, they are vagabonds, explorers, adventurers, but they do everything slowly with both determination and deliberate intent but always with patience as if they never want to miss something in life for always going to fast. I like the travelling aspect: true self-sufficient roaming souls who never leave home but go everywhere independently. I wonder if they see life more deeply as a result of moving so slowly or if life appears to happen much faster around them 🙂 I imagine snails have few enemies other than birds: like the one peeking over rocks in this week’s challenge 🙂
Have a great weekend, and a fantastic week. Take care 🙂
