Weekend Writing Prompt #47 – Vibrant

A word and photo prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  Use the prompts separately or together.  It’s up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take one of the challenges below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

Poetry Challenge – Write a non-rhyming poem in no more than 10 lines, that is inspired by the word and photo prompt.

  1. Good morning Sammi C, Namaste 🙂

How are you…all good I hope? Another weekend appears out of nowhere almost as quickly as the last weekend left. The year is passing-by so fast, keeping up with it is exhausting! Thankfully Mercury is retrograde – or so those who know Astrology say – offering chance to return and reflect, review, restore, revise, reconsider, refocus, reinvent, repair, reconfigure or adjust ourselves in preparation of summer’s blooming, so there is chance to catch up! At least that is the plan 🙂

As to this weeks non-rhyming challenge, I couldn’t do it Sammi…I couldn’t leave the rhyme alone, she just wouldn’t let me lol 🙂 Sorry: perhaps I’ll go retrograde and pop back for another go before the week is out. So for now, here’s my 10-line scribble thus far….

I was nearing the end of my rambling roam
Idly dreaming about a garden of my own,
One effervescent corner of an ever-turning globe,
Somewhere high-spirited I get to call home.
A stimulating place an electrifying space
Where flamboyant Nature bestows her grace
Shows her face bedazzles with her smile.
Whilst fresh and feisty full of spring zest,
Peppy and pert never at rest: vibrant is she so full of vim,
    Vigorously energising everything.

Thanks for setting the challenge. Have a wonderful weekend. Take care.

    Namaste 🙂

    • Lol – you couldn’t leave the rhyme alone. Why am I not surprised? It’s a lovely poem. “Idly dreaming about a garden of my own” – beautiful line. As I’m typing this, I am looking out over my own back garden, where the cutest mouse is busily eating seed on the bird table…

      • Hey Sammi, Namaste 🙂

Ah, precious minutes spent looking out over the back garden watching a cute mouse perch on a bird table whilst feasting on seed: this is a Disney moment – when one’s gaze softens as if looking through a screen into a magical dream where the garden is alive with enchanting creatures and all is ready to burst into melodic song 🙂

You know, I’m quite certain the mouse had a story to tell if only you had asked: or perhaps you did? 😉

Hoping all’s well and your weekend is off to a flying start. Take care.

        Namaste 🙂
