Weekend Writing Prompt #87 – Ignite

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

Word Prompt

Ignite

Challenge

The challenge is simple: each week you will be given an exact number of words you can use to write a poem or piece of prose.  You can use any format or style you like; go wherever your inspiration takes you.  The only rules are these:

  • your poem / prose must contain this week’s word.  The word does not have to count towards the exact word count total – it can be in the title, or the first letters of the lines of a poem can spell it out – you can be as creative as you want as long as it’s there somewhere.
  • the length of your poem / prose must match the number of words stated in this week’s challenge.  No more.  No less.

Can’t wait to read what you have come up with!

    White Knight ignite your light,
    Smite blighting shade!
    Flaming bright, do what’s right,
    Burn the Devil’s brigade!

Have a great weekend. Take care.

      • Namaste Rochelle 🙂

Most kind, thank you. I’m part-way through a slightly longer poem, which undoubtedly influenced my approach here.

Appreciate your comment. Have a great weekend.

        Brightest Blessings. Namaste 🙂

      • Namaste Sammi, how are you? 🙂

An excellent turn-out for the challenge this week! The diversity and quality of individual responses is superb. It pleases me no end to read them: I’m sure many found enjoyment as well 🙂

Thank you for reflection on my 17 words…I hadn’t considered it light-hearted, but perhaps that is because I broke from writing Pit-Stop, which is a little heavier, and enjoyed penning the poem for your Challenge.

I’m just back from a long walk around the local area and have returned home with 5 long white, wooden golf-tees. Not quite sure why they interested me as they did, but i’ll give it some thought later…perhaps in their finding is a poem of some sort waiting to appear! 🙂

Thank you for comment and Challenge in equal measure 🙂

        Namaste 🙂
