Her Reflection

I see her reflection

Alongside mine

In a bowl of water, a looking-glass, a dirty puddle

Sometimes she looks like me

Others not

Sometimes she smiles sweetly

When she isn’t terrifying me

With her intense, unwavering glare

She’s always been with me

I know that

While she’s on the other side

Of the partition

I’m safe

But soon she will be here…

What then?
