A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.
Word Prompt
Peristeronic
Challenge
The challenge is simple: each week you will be given an exact number of words you can use to write a poem or piece of prose. You can use any format or style you like; go wherever your inspiration takes you. The only rules are these:
- your poem / prose must contain this week’s word (see note below). The word does not have to count towards the exact word count total – it can be in the title, or the first letters of the lines of a poem can spell it out – you can be as creative as you want as long as it’s there somewhere.
- the length of your poem / prose must match the number of words stated in this week’s challenge. No more. No less.
- A note on the word: you can use any variation of the word (for example: call, calls, calling, called etc). If you find you are struggling to use this week’s word you may substitute it for a synonym – just include a note to explain the swap. Remember, this is supposed to be fun! 🙂
Can’t wait to read what you have come up with!

Can I ask, please, am I the only writer who is increasingly irked by WordPress’s constant messing with the old editor as they push us towards their new appalling offering?

No, you’re not! If they get rid of the old editor I’ll go back to Blogger.

Nope. It’s a bitch, the new on is like it’s not stabilized, sometimes works, most often just frustrating. I did just yesterday noticed that they screwed with the old one.

I assure you, CE. You are NOT the only one. It’s a constant battle to keep well enough…LEAVE IT ALONE WP!!!

The threats are irritating. My page is simple, so I’m sure I could manage. I tried the new editor. I did not prefer it to the old (classic) editor. Based on what I have read, you are far from alone.

It’s a royal pain in the ass.

I use the classic editor from the Dashboard – always have, and always will as long as I stick around. They can keep creating their “simpler” shite but I’ll not join. I would love for them to just stop harassing us about it, though.

Thanks for the new vocab word! I had to look it up. Then I Googled it and felt much better — in the first two pages, all but one of the sites returned were definitions of the word rather than someone actually using the word in real life, and it was halfway through the second page (a society devoted to pigeons). So at least I have some justification for not having run across this word before! 🙂

I’m not even sure where I stumbled across this one…but it was new to me too 🙂

Sammi!!! This has to be the craziest word you have ever done. I’ll have to think about this one, I can’t imagine anyone ever using it. I’m looking forward to seeing what your crazy writers came up with.
