We had barely a plan
More of a thought
Of direction
.
A place name on a sign
Spotted from the road
On the way to
Other Places
.
Unburdened by the lack
Of expectation
We simply got in the car
And drove
.
Unencumbered by a list of
“Things to see and do”
We arrived
We discovered
We had a great time…
.
…And made plans to return
Next time as tourists
Rather than as explorers
A poem inspired by an unplanned road trip last week, to Polesworth in Warwickshire, and some photos of said place.
Sammi,
Wow! Looks like a trip back in time. So do I love gargoyles. Who doesn’t? 😀

The village was certainly steeped in history. It was a wonderful chance find, and even better for being able to see the gargoyle and grotesque. Thanks so much for reading and commenting, Dora 🙂

Wow! I so enjoyed this. Thank you for showing it. And yes, there is a buzz from exploring a place for the first, I love it too

I’m so glad you enjoyed this, Crispina. I usually try to have a fair idea of what we will see / do when we visit new places, but there is something to be said about enjoying the element of surprise too 🙂

Oh yes. That’s why I try to vary my route when out walking. Though sometimes my detours are more like flaws (famous last words)
