Roots gnarled and twisted
Half hidden by the rich earth
Buried out of sight
Like wisdom, truth and knowledge
There, but can’t always be seen

Thanks to everyone who joined in with the 13 Days of Samhain prompts. I thoroughly enjoyed reading each and every one! If you missed any, you can catch up by checking out the original prompt post and follow the links / pingbacks in the comments…
Have a blessed Samhain! I’m off to bake a batch of soul cakes…
Spirits start to cross
When The Veil begins to thin
Following the lights
Of carved lanterns and candles
Guiding them safely homewards

My choice: trick or treat
On doorstep stood witch and sprite
Diminutive though
They were, children they were not
Eyes blazed, teeth gleamed, and I fled…
Bones prancing in lines
Taunting, teasing the living
Momento mori
In breathless whisper, they call
“You cannot escape this dance”…
Their friendship comes with
A price. I’m willing to pay
Initiation:
Truth, bare my soul to their jests,
Or dare, risk life for their game…
I am not to blame.
Not being psychic ensured
Proceedings took an
Unexpected turn, when words
Chanted, opened the portal…
Anonymity
Preserved, beneath this costume
Brave behind this mask
True identity concealed
You know me? You know me not…
No thought of my own
Propels me onwards through death
Ritual whispers
Control actions, movements, on
To wherever I am sent…
My cauldron of spells
Bubbles and boils day and night
Brewing my potions
For discerning buyers of
Curses, dreams and enchantments…

It might look to you
Delicious and delightful
Nice, like pumpkin spice
But my witchery is smart
You’ll never guess, never know…
